In Parents Who Kill, acclaimed crime writer Carol Anne Davis examines the tragic phenomena of infanticide and child murder with an objective yet compassionate eye. Case histories vary from the universal – the age-old problem of neglected or abused children growing up to batter their own babies is examined in depth – to the culturally specific, with an analysis of the religious and sexual taboos which lead to so-called ‘honour killings’. In twenty-five powerful themed chapters, Parents Who Kill examines the processes of score-settling in relationships, postnatal depression, psychosis, neglect, mercy and honour killing, along with many other homicidal triggers. The final chapter, ‘Saving Lives’, offers solutions and examines helpful resources. |
